We have recently heard the news that from 1st December 2021, eligible visa holders will be entitled to enter Australia providing they are vaccinated with a TGA-approved vaccine.
If you or a family member or friend intends to come into South Australia from Overseas there are some steps that would need to go through.
Step 1. Make sure you have completed a course of a COVID-19 vaccine approved or recognized by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).
- Exemptions to unvaccinated travelers may apply in selected cases. You can apply for a medical exemption on Step 2*. If your exemption is approved, you will be advised of your quarantine and testing requirements.
- If you are traveling from overseas with an unvaccinated child aged between 12 years and 2 months and 18 years, you and everyone in your traveling group must quarantine for 14 days on arrival to South Australia. You must get tested on arrival and again on days 6 and 13 of quarantine. This is provided all people in your traveling group aged 18 years or older are vaccinated.
Step 2. Complete an EntryCheck SA application and wait for the outcome email.
- All people planning to travel to South Australia from interstate and overseas, including returning South Australians, must apply through EntryCheck SA.
*Note 2. At this stage, you will receive an outcome email with your conditions to comply on arrival and you will be provided with a link to apply for a Medical Exemption (as step 1) if required.
Step 3. Download HealthCheck SA and quarantine.
Depending on individual circumstances, some travelers may be required to complete quarantine at home using this app to report their location at home/rental house or in a medi-hotel. This app guides users through their quarantine, testing, and/or symptom check requirements as well.
Your EntryCheck SA or exemption approval (Step 2) will outline your quarantine requirements.
Step 4. Download MySA gov App.
You will need to use this app to scan the QR Codes that are located at the entrance of all businesses, events, and public transports of SA. This QR code will allow you to check in before entering these premises or attending events. The Check-in is mandatory in SA.
*Attention: All people traveling in and out of Australia should be aware of Australian Government requirements for international travelers. More information is available on the Department of Health’s website.
