Federal Budget 2020-21 – Released Oct 6th 2020

We know that all temporary, permanent and future residents of Australia were anxiously expecting for the 2020/21 Federal Budget to be released, so we have prepared a quick summary with the most important points of the newly disclosed Federal Budget that we believe are relevant to our Expert family,

Here are a few things you should know,


  •  Migration Program Levels: Government will keep the Migration Program planning for 2020-21 in 160,000 vacancies.
  •  Family Stream vacancies will increase from 47,732 to 77.300 spots in 2020-2021
  •  Employer Sponsored, Global Talent, Business Innovation and Investment Program Visas will be prioritized on Skilled Stream.
  •  Onshore applicants and Partner visa applicants where the relevant sponsor reside in a regional area will also be prioritized for the Migration Program 2020-21.
  •  Global Talent Independent Program (GTI): Openings in the GTI program will be tripled for 15,000.
  •  Task Force attraction of global talent and business: The government will provide $ 29,8 million over two years of 2020-21 to establish a new Global Business Task Force and Talent Attraction from across the government to attract international business and exceptional talent to Australia to support recovery post COVID and increase local jobs.
  •  The Government will apply the Family Sponsorship Visa structure to Partner visas which will require character checks and personal information sharing as a mandatory part of the application. These changes will complement existing family violence arrangements within the Partner Visa program.
  •  Government will introduce English language requirements for Partner visa applicants and PR sponsors. These changes will help increase social cohesion and economic participation in the country
